It’s November 1, there’s a light rain falling trying hard to transition to wet flakes, which seems appropriate for the day we’re officially ramping up for winter 2021/22. For this season, Sir Sam’s 56th, will start in a manner that is new in the entirety of the resorts history — with new owners at the helm.
The Bishop Family, founders of Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride are happy to announce the sale of the business to the Wilkinson Family. Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride was founded in 1965 and has earned the reputation as a great family-friendly skiing experience in a safe and uncrowded atmosphere.
The Bishops would like to take the opportunity to express our thanks and gratitude to all our customers who have supported us over the past 56 years and to all the suppliers, trades people and most importantly, to the thousands of dedicated staff whom we have worked with for almost six decades,
“We could not have done this without your support. Our Father and Mother, Bob and Noreen had a dream and a vision all those years ago to create a winter skiing facility that would promote Haliburton and Eagle Lake as a winter destination and that it would become an economic driver for the entire Haliburton Highlands. They accomplished this goal.”
The Bishop Family will be working with the Wilkinson Family this winter to help with the transition,
“We have made many life long friends and relationships, and look forward in the future to spending more time on the slopes with these friends.”
The Bishop Family want to wish the Wilkinson Family all the best and look forward to the new changes they are making — including the Chalet renovations and introducing a new food experience with the opening of “Rhubarb on the Hill” in early December.
“We know their commitment is to provide the same quality skiing and boarding experience while expanding the offerings and activities of the off season. We are excited to see their vision for the future of Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride.”
